“20 MINUTES FROM THE AIRPORT, SYCUAN’S CONVENIENT AND THEY HAVE MORE THAN ENOUGH MEETING SPACE. THE ROOMS ARE COMFORTABLE, THE FOOD IS DELECTABLE, THE CASINO’S JUST UP THE ROAD AND BEST OF ALL… 54 HOLES OF GOLF! WE WOULDN’T CONSIDER ANYWHERE ELSE IN SAN DIEGO.” WALTER MATSUOKA, MEETING PLANNER, DESERT CLASSIC GOLF

Golf Academy Reviews

Bob:
Played in a 2 day eclectic tournament at Coronado and shot 85 and 86 and with my 14 handicap netted 71 and 72. My best ball gross was a 62 that tied me for 2nd in my flight. Was in 2 sand traps Sunday and got out fairly close to the pin in one swing so the lesson really helped. Thanks.  JF

Bob,
I just got back from the desert. I played very solid. I shot 72 the first day and 68 today. The shallow divot thing was really working. I hit my irons very well. I finished tied for second with one of my friends from the Junior America’s Cup team. Overall it was a fun experience and it was nice to play well in front of many college coaches. Byron Meth

Bob:
I used to be a fiery player who swore, kicked the bag, and slammed his clubs.  No more.  As soon as I started controlling this bad behavior, my scores started to improve dramatically.  I still hit many bad shots, but the ability to remain composed and focused on the next swing seems to have made all the difference in the world.  I hope you can use my experience to the benefit of your students.  It took me 48 years of pretty mediocre golf to discover this, and it has been a fantastic discovery for me.  Best of luck, and thanks for all your help and encouragement.  TS

Shot 39 on Sun. and was 1 under after two more holes, 10, and 11. (ran out of time). The great thing was that I was getting up and down from around the green.  Chipping was best ever!  Steve H

We would like to bring to your attention the professional, yet relaxed style of golf instruction Mr. Madsen has been providing for the two of us. Bob's demeanor is perfect for both of us.

My wife and I are concluding our second set of "couples" lessons with Bob and although we (Denise and I) are in very different stages of experience with the game, Bob has provided individualized instruction for both us during our lesson time, and developed drills for both of us to work on between lessons.

This personal approach has provided a comfort factor for Denise to progress from only playing Pine Glen (par 3 course), because of being "intimidated" by Oak and Willow, to now becoming more relaxed on the "big" courses. This is not only because of the improvement in her game, but from Bob's suggestion to play to a different par than what is indicated on the scorecard. Bob also identified a way for us to truly play together; Denise hits her shot and my objective is to hit to her ball. The enjoyment we both feel is directly attributed to Bob's approach, continuous encouragement, and results. This has also led to our near-continuous presence at your Golf Resort this summer.

Bob's approach has led to both of us enjoying time practicing together on the range, playing on the course(s) and enjoying lunch and/or dinner at "The Grill" once or twice a week. We have progressed from being at the course once every two or three weeks to at least twice a week and sometimes more. In fact, it has become common for DENISE to suggest we meet at the course after work to practice or suggest we play an additional day on the weekend.

With Bob's help, we have found a way for both of us to thoroughly enjoy golf together. We are looking forward to many years of golf at your resort.

Please pass along our thanks to Mr. Madsen; he is definitely a great representative of your golf resort and we are sure, a valued asset of your operations.

Got a "Hole In One" today on Oak #15 @ 176yds.  Inside left cup on the fly.  Used a 6 iron with a medium breeze.  A picture perfect full swing, follow through with balance, and a very slight draw.  Never saw it go in, just made a big bang and I thought it flew off the green somewhere.  But it was in the cup when I got there --------

Hi Bob,
I went on Sunday to the National City Golf Course, I had 51 shots. I have corrected the slice finally, although some times I now hook...!!! Of the 9 holes 5 tee shots were amazingly well done... need to keep improving the short game and putting...

On one of the par 4s, I took the 5 iron for my second shot and landed 7 feet from the hole... amazing.

I want to thank you for all your knowledge and especially the patience.

Saludos
Rodrigo

Dear Bob,
Just checking in.   I know it’s been awhile, but Lorraine and I attended one of your couples' classes around Christmas two years ago, Lorraine got me several days instruction with you.  I would like you to know that the drills and instruction have been steadily improving my game over the past 15 months. Over the last two weeks I shot two rounds in the seventies and I would just like to thank you for the time and instruction.  I feel the lessons are coming to fruition.  Thanks again,

Bob:
Just a quick note to let you know how I am doing since our visit to the Sycuan Golf Academy in March.  My golf game has become better.  For the first time in my life I actual won a tournament (Net Score) at my Men's Club tournament.  I never ever came close before taking your course.

Your instruction to swing the club has helped me greatly.  I am striking the ball so much more consistently and my scores are coming down with each tournament.

Thank for everything Bob.
Russ T.
